Thank you for this! There is a wonderful Parent/Teen group who meet monthly at Lurie's Gender affirming clinic. Parents in one room, teens in another. A parent, newer to the group, shyly shared that their kid had been hospitalized for suicide, then asked if there were any other parents with kids who have experienced the same..... every single parent in the room raised their hand.

Thinking about my childhood as well, this numbness and dissociation is so relatable, and I too feel many buried memories. It is fascinating how HRT has brought many of them back. It truly is life-affirming and saving care.

Thank you! HRT and other gender affirming care is absolutely life saving. It’s especially interesting to me that while we are from different generations, there is a lot of commonalities in our stories.
At church choir, I'm with the tenors (in fact I'm a true bariton): Gwendoline and the boys as said by one of the choirmaster. I discussed with my singing teacher, if I should shift within the mezzo. At the end, I prefer to stay with my turbulent team with the pastor, the organist and few others.
